The sweetest chocolates

What better gift than a kiss on this romantic journey? From Terni, a key stop is the provincial capital Perugia, the land of chocolate and sweetness. The Bacio Perugino was born at the hands of chocolatier Luisa Spagnoli, the daughter of a long line of chocolatiers who had founded the Perugina company.

Perugina, founded in 1907, began producing a series of chocolates from the waste materials from the processing of other sweets (particularly hazelnuts in grains or chunks and chocolate). Because of the shape, they thought of calling them Cazzotti, an unsuitable name today for the sweet declaration of love. In fact, the name was due to its origin: the chocolate was obtained by combining various scraps from the processing of other chocolate Fortunately, in 1922 Giovanni Buitoni sensed the potential of the creation and renamed Baci, these sweet creations to convey an unmistakable message of love.
