What is the Corpus Christi Infiorata?
The beautiful red brick streets of the Borgo di Paciano become canvases, floral carpets scented with passion and art, inspired by
mainly to religious themes but not only during the Corpus Christi Infiorata.
On the Saturday evening before Corpus Christi Sunday, the preparation of the frames and flowers begins, and from the early morning of the following day in Paciano, tourists and visitors make the floral designs.
The practice, widespread in several Umbrian locations, combines the local regional tradition with that of petal compositions in a unique show, which give life to images and representations of great impact and involvement.
Thus, the streets of the village of Panicale come alive with great icons and traditional scenes, so as to accompany the route of the religious procession held every year on the occasion of the celebrations of Corpus Christi, a feast in honor of the Eucharist and is set up in conjunction with the communions of the children of the village who are usual, during the procession, pass over the carpets of flowers. The infiorata takes place in the historic center of the town and is inspired by a theme that is decided year by year by the association.
It is organized by the Paciano Flower Makers Group, a member of the national association Infioritalia, and on several occasions during the year it creates artistic flower displays not only in Paciano, but also in other Italian municipalities on the occasion of events on the subject.
