What is ReUnion in the Lands of Oil and Sagrantino?
Tourist and cultural itineraries will be created in the area with guided tours, and environmental tours through the trekking circuit of the Martani Mountains.
Some routes will be carried out during the period of olive harvesting and grinding, to enhance one of the excellences of the area: the DOP extra virgin olive oil of the Martani Mountains, the production of which has been one of the traditions of the area for centuries. The itineraries will therefore include a visit to some local oil mills, where it will be possible to taste typical products and discover the history and production of this high-quality product.
Other itineraries will include a visit to the historic center of Giano dell’Umbria, with the Franciscan complex, of extraordinary historical and artistic value and the Abbey of San Felice, one of the most beautiful examples of Umbrian Romanesque, immersed in a splendid natural setting; along the way it will be possible to see the thousand-year-old olive tree of Macciano, which with its ancient history has become one of the symbols of the area. A “journey into the Middle Ages” will also be created, reconstructing the life and traditions of the area, in a path that will touch some medieval castles from the ancient castrum of Giano dell’Umbria, with its fortified structure, its churches and its history, then the castles of Castagnola and Montecchio will be visited, inserted in a very characteristic natural structure, telling its history, curiosities and ancient statutes.
