The name of the Festival derives from the small cinnamon that was put on the barrels from which the wine was tapped. With this event the “sale of wine at retail” is celebrated, that is, the sale in the cellars of private production, even with courses of traditional dishes. It is a festival that promotes the typical dishes of the area (“umbrichelle”, tortucce, wild boar, duck and pork). It has been held in the capital Castel Viscardo since 1966; in 2023 the 56th edition was organized, always straddling the days of Ferragosto (usually lasting about ten evenings).
For the opening, an allegorical float is organized with a barrel and its cinnamon, made characteristic by vegetables, vine shoots, objects used in winemaking, funny writings on wine. The float, preceded by the musical band, parades through the center of the town and reaches the venue of the festival.
