Italea Umbria

Italea is a project dedicated both to those who already know their Italian origins and want to organize a trip to discover and rediscover the places, customs and culture of their ancestors, and to those who need to identify them, and who will be able to make use of a network of reliable genealogists.

The name Italea derives from “talea”, a practice by which a plant is allowed to propagate. By cutting a part of it and replanting it, it can be given new life, making new roots grow: just as happens with migrations.

This program represents the gratitude of the “mother plant” to its flowering in the world.

Italea Umbria has the face of Alberto, Alice, Andrea, Beatrice, Francesca, Francesco, Gioia, Giulia, Jovana, Letizia and Riccardo.

We share a passion and a strong knowledge of the Umbrian territory and its history, which we wish to pass on to root travelers through artistic cultural, folkloric, natural and food and wine heritage.

Our team is made up of young professionals working as travel designers, tour guides and receptionists, communication designers, content creators, and project managers who have provided their skills to develop an offer related to Roots Tourism in Umbria.

We can count on a scientific officer with more than 30 years’ experience in the field of emigration to supervise our activities, ensuring soundness to our research work as well.

The project is based on a Hub & Spoke model: in our headquarters – hub – we welcome your individual and collective requests

Thanks to our genealogist, we build together the journey back to discover your family history and find its roots connected with local history and traditions. That is why we have created a network-our spoke points-that connects many different realities in strategic places in our region, concentrated especially in areas where emigration has been most numerous: the small rural villages.

We enhance these uniquely fascinating places outside the mainstream tourism circuits, making them protagonists of itineraries and theaters of specially designed experiences and initiatives. Here we carry out the workshops designed to enhance characteristics (stories and traditions) of each individual area: let’s discover together the ancient crafts, rituals and customs that tell the story of rural civilization, craftsmanship!

The Italian Style of Life is expressed in language, as well as in the many dialects that characterize our small region.With us, you can learn words, idioms and colloquial trivia that will make you feel immediately at home. Both in Italian and in dialect, the language of the most authentic emotions!
