Peasant life
A small museum (for now still itinerant) of the world of peasant civilization. The exhibition itinerary winds through various rural environments in memory of peasant life: the house, the basement, the room, the carpenter’s shop, the blacksmith’s shop, the stable, the cellar, the cellar and the warehouse. In each room are exhibited the tools used in the houses of the past, for example in the kitchen, the table set with the hemp tablecloth woven on the loom, the fireplace, the cupboard, the laundry and others, the room where people rested after the hard work of the fields, the carpenter’s shop with the tools he built himself that were used both for repairs and to build carts, carts, chairs, barrels, the cellar where everything needed for good wine is on display, from the harvest to bottling. An immersion in the past that intrigues children and young people who have not seen the tools in use in the peasant world in past years, while people who were once farmers relive the memories of that past full of fatigue but also of joyful moments.
Also on display are numerous ancient tools in use in the peasant world, well preserved, made available by Veraldo Serranti, a lover of the peasant world, and the wooden sculptures of Maestro Franco Picciolini depicting the peasants of the past using the real ploughs on display.
The exhibition displays the shots of Maria Assunta Pioli, a photographer for passion, very active in solidarity, volunteer of the Italian Red Cross – Orvieto Committee, who since the 90s has photographed the faces of the people who live on the Alfina and the traditions that have been handed down for centuries and have come down to today.
