What is the Ghetto Dinner: “The Dinner in Descent” for the Feast of the Assumption?

An initiative born in 2016 as part of the celebrations of S. Maria Assunta, which this year, reaches its eighth edition. It is a folkloristic event that attracts tourists from all over the territory and many foreigners of Italian and non-Italian origin. A dinner that closes the patron saint’s feast dedicated to S. Maria Assunta, in a narrow downhill street that divides the village in half, called Il Ghetto, with a characteristic menu and stornellatori who make the evening cheerful. With each new edition its success grows further and it is a perfect social opportunity for Roots Tourists. Part of the proceeds of this event is donated to charity. In these days of patronal feast it will be possible to carry out experiences of various kinds: live the ancient local traditions such as the procession for the patronal feast with the medieval re-enactment of the Offering of the Candle at the altar of St. Mary and the historical procession; trekking to discover breathtaking paths and views in the Lugnano hills; discover the beauties of the village through guided tours in the Civic Museum and in the most important monuments of the town; visit the thermal site of Ramici to immerse yourself in the sulphurous water pools among landscapes of unique beauty. A photographic exhibition will be set up thanks to the testimonies provided by the Community, on the theme of roots and migration, to give back to the present a piece of recent history and give the Roots Tourists an overview of the places of origin of their ancestors. In the spaces made available to the Municipality, the Roots workshops will be organized in collaboration with the Temporary Committee for Return Tourism.
