Invicta Citerna
Invicta 1643, or Citerna “the Invincible”, is the historical re-enactment that celebrates the courage and love for their land of the people of Citerna. A date, July 26, 1643. A place: Citerna. Here, within the walls of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, history, the one with a capital H, made a stop, inspiring the historical re-enactment “Invicta 1643”. Wearing seventeenth-century costumes, the inhabitants of Citerna and the nearby Pistrino and Fighille, relive in one day, July 26 of each year, the feast of Sant’Anna, the events of the Barberina battle fought between the Papal States and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany also in Citerna, believed to be easy prey, which instead resisted, “invicta” stronghold, for months, until the defeat of the enemies. And from that extraordinary victory starts, in the late afternoon, the Historical Parade that from the Torrione in the upper part of the town, parades to Piazza Scipione Scipioni, where the procession will be transformed into a theatrical performance in memory of the pivotal moments of the dispute. Along with the spectacular part, the program also offers moments of historical in-depth study entrusted to local experts and historians.

By car: Probably the most convenient way. The E45 passes not far from Citerna. Train: The nearest train station could be Città di Castello, from where you could then take a bus or taxi. Airport: The nearest airport is Perugia "San Francesco d'Assisi". Bus: There are probably bus connections to the main nearby Umbrian and Tuscan cities.
