For the year “2024 – Year of Italian Roots”, during the Easter holidays, a workshop will be activated for the creation of an Ovo Pinto on the theme of Roots and emigration, with the provision and involvement of artists and artisans who will guide the participants.
This event is part of the Ovo Pinto Exhibition-Competition which takes place, now as a tradition, in the municipal area and in particular in the hamlet of Civitella del Lago. This event provides for the promotion every year, from Easter to May 1st, of an exhibition competition called “Ovo Pinto” and open to all professionals – and not – who want to express their creativity.
Painting eggs during the Easter period, with natural colors deriving from infusions of flowers, herbs, onions and more, is an ancient custom, very widespread in Europe and central Italy. This exhibition has been promoted by the Ovo Pinto Cultural Association since 1982.In 2005 in Civitella del Lago a museum was also opened to the public where thousands of painted and sculpted eggs are exhibited.
