The Montefalco ReUnion24 Project. In the Lands of Oil and Sagrantino is a tourist promotion activity aimed at enhancing the identity of the historical roots through a program of experiential and immersive events in the landscape and ancient traditions of the place. The proposed initiatives are an opportunity to make known and rediscover to the returning tourist and the local community the history of the culture and food and wine traditions that, over time, have contributed to creating the identity of this territory.
The village of Montefalco retains its appearance of the medieval castle and the beauty and breadth of the panorama that can be observed from its belvedere towards the Umbrian valley have made the city called “Railing of Umbria”. The territory of Montefalco is characterized by a landscape and naturalistic value, the surrounding hills are rich in vineyards, where the production of Sagrantino wine reaches levels of excellence. In fact, the wine-growing vocation of the Montefalco area, in addition to being one of the most important current items of its economy, is very ancient, recognized and celebrated already in the Roman period. The activities proposed for the Montefalco ReUnion24 project. In the Lands of Oil and Sagrantino, Montefalchese, the most significant cultural event in the city of Montefalco, are part of the calendar of Agosto Montefalchese, a Renaissance historical re-enactment that tells a wonderful slice of life in the village of the time.
For the entire duration of the event, the Piazza del Comune di Montefalco is transformed into an “open-air theater” and the entire village relives the emotions of the past; In fact, the event is characterized by a great variety of artistic initiatives, cultural attractions, shows and events of a historical and folkloristic nature. The historical re-enactment of the drummers, the flag-wavers, the crossbowmen, the historical procession and the Fuga del Bove revive: the Renaissance atmosphere with the lights, fervor and ferment of the city of Montefalco, which in the fifteenth century reached the peak of its artistic and cultural splendor. The program of the Montefalchese August, with a strong identity vocation, will dedicate, in an evocative context of rare beauty, two evenings to events that will tell the local history and culture, as an attraction for roots tourism and for the Montefalco community itself.
The activities to enhance the identity culture and historical roots will therefore be a special opportunity to discover the ancient culture of the Montefalco village and to test the excellence of the local wine culture.
